Aluminium window and door finishes and colours
Aluminium windows and doors are powder coated to an architectural standard in any RAL colour, in matt, satin, gloss or textured, with dual-colour inside and out and anodised-style options where specified. Finish is chosen per project and confirmed at quote, so the colour, sheen and any inside-out split are locked before the order goes into production.

What finishes can aluminium windows and doors have?
Aluminium windows and doors are powder coated to an architectural standard in any RAL colour, in your choice of matt, satin, gloss or textured, with dual-colour and anodised-style options where specified. The coating is a hard, even, factory-applied finish across frames, sashes and beads.
The colour and sheen are coated to your spec, applied after fabrication so edges and joints are covered consistently. The same finish system runs across every product, so a bifold, a sliding door and a casement on one job can match exactly.
Pick the sheen and the colour separately. Both are recorded on the order and confirmed at quote against the chosen system and sizes.
Request current product evidence for the selected route, size, glazing, hardware and project before relying on the specification.
- Powder coat to architectural standard, applied over a prepared and pre-treated frame
- Sheen options: matt, satin, gloss or textured
- Colour: the full RAL palette, single colour or dual-colour inside and out
- Anodised-style finishes where specified, for a brushed metallic look
- Same finish system across bifolds, sliding doors, casements, entrance doors, heritage ranges and curtain walling
Which RAL colours are available?
The full RAL palette is available, so any standard RAL reference can be specified, as a single colour or dual-colour inside and out. Common choices are anthracite greys, blacks, whites and bronzes, but the range is not limited to a stock shortlist.
Give the RAL reference on the enquiry and it is matched at coating. If you are working to a colour you do not have a RAL number for, send the reference and we confirm the nearest match at quote. Browse the range on products and tell us the finish you need on the same enquiry.
Matt, satin, gloss or textured: how do the sheens differ?
Sheen sets how much light the surface reflects, separate from the colour itself. The same RAL can be supplied across different sheens, so two units in the same colour can read differently depending on the level chosen.
Match the sheen to the building. Matt and textured are common on contemporary work and hide surface marks better; satin and gloss give a brighter, more reflective face.
| Matt | low reflectance, flat appearance, forgiving on light marks |
|---|---|
| Satin | mid sheen, a balanced everyday finish |
| Gloss | high reflectance, brighter and more pronounced |
| Textured | a fine surface texture, low sheen, strong durability feel |
| Sheen is specified per project and applies to the whole unit unless dual-colour is requested |
Can I have a different colour inside and out?
Yes. Dual-colour means one colour on the external face and a different colour internally, both to the full RAL palette. This is a standard option, not a special order.
It lets the outside suit the elevation while the inside matches the room. State both RAL references, external and internal, on the enquiry so they are coated correctly.
- External colour: any RAL, matt to gloss or textured
- Internal colour: any RAL, chosen independently
- Common pairing: a dark or bronze exterior with a neutral or white interior
- Confirm both references at quote before fabrication
What about anodised-style finishes?
Anodised-style finishes are available where specified, giving the brushed, metallic look associated with anodising while keeping the practical benefits of a powder-coated finish. They suit schemes that want a raw-metal aesthetic without a solid block colour.
Specify anodised-style on the enquiry and we confirm the available range and the right route for the product at quote.
How durable and colour-fast are the finishes?
Architectural powder coat is built for long-term external use, with stable colour and sheen and good resistance to weathering on UK elevations. The coating is applied over a pre-treated surface, which is what gives the adhesion and corrosion resistance behind that durability.
Colour-fastness means the finish holds its shade and gloss level over time rather than fading or chalking quickly. Exact warranty terms depend on the finish and exposure and are confirmed at quote. Routine cleaning is wiping down with mild detergent and water; avoid abrasives and solvents that can mark the coating.
How is finish specified per project?
Finish is set per project at enquiry and locked at quote, alongside the system, sizes and glazing. Because coating happens after fabrication, the colour, sheen and any dual-colour split need to be fixed before the order goes into production.
Tell us what you need and we quote the right system and finish to match. Start at quote with the detail below, and we confirm the rest at quote.

Common questions
Can aluminium windows be any colour?
Yes. Aluminium windows and doors are powder coated in the full RAL palette, so any standard RAL colour can be specified, as a single colour or dual-colour inside and out. Give the RAL reference on the enquiry and it is matched at coating and confirmed at quote.
What is the difference between matt and textured aluminium finishes?
Both are low-sheen, but matt is a flat, smooth surface while textured has a fine surface texture you can feel. Textured tends to mask light marks and reads as more robust; matt gives a clean flat face. The same RAL colour can be supplied in either, chosen per project.
Can I have a dark exterior and a white interior on the same window?
Yes, that is a standard dual-colour option. You specify one RAL colour for the external face and a different RAL colour internally, so the outside suits the elevation and the inside matches the room. State both references on the enquiry and they are confirmed at quote.
How long does a powder-coated aluminium finish last?
Architectural powder coat is made for long-term external use and holds its colour and sheen on UK elevations, helped by a pre-treated surface under the coating. Exact warranty terms depend on the finish and exposure and are confirmed at quote. Clean with mild detergent and water, not abrasives or solvents.
How do I specify the finish when ordering?
Give the RAL reference, the sheen (matt, satin, gloss or textured), and whether you want dual-colour inside and out or an anodised-style finish. Because coating happens after fabrication, the finish is locked at quote with the system, sizes and glazing before the order goes into production. Tell us what you need and we quote the right system and finish.
