Fabrication record
What aluminium sliding & patio doors can actually be built to
These are the limits the factory works to, taken from the fabrication data for the system we make this product in. Premium routes in the same family reach better thermal and acoustic figures than the ones below, and are quoted where the project calls for them. Either way this is the envelope, not a quotation: the achievable figures for your opening are confirmed against your drawings and a survey.

| Panels per run | 1 to 8 |

Configurations available
- In-line sliding and lift&slide
- 2/3/4/6/8 sashes
- 1 rail (1 sash+1 fixed)
- 2/3/4 rails
- galandage 1/2/3/4 sashes
Tested performance
Two reference tests, one for the in-line slider and one for the lift and slide, with different classes. The lift and slide is tested much larger and trades wind class for size.
| Tested size | Air permeability | Watertightness | Wind resistance |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1800 x 2200mmIn-line slider, 2 sashes | Class 3 | Class 7A | Class C5 |
| 4000 x 2500mmLift and slide, 2 sashes | Class 4 | Class 7A | Class C2 |
Security: tested to PAS 24 on a 2400 x 2400mm reference window, 2 sashes.
Each row is a separate tested mock-up. A class is achieved at a size, so these are not a guarantee for every configuration. The classes that apply to your opening are confirmed at quote.
Any security rating above is the tested performance of the system, held by the system manufacturer. VitrineAlu fabricates to the tested configuration and holds no certification of its own. Evidence for the configuration you specify is issued at quote.

What to send
Send these and the route can be confirmed without a back-and-forth.

How we specify
The right product route is chosen per project
Exact specification (U-value, sizes, weights, security class, finish) is confirmed per project at quote, selected to suit the trade brief.
It means you lead with the outcome: light, security, clean sightlines, usable openings, buildable details and a specification that suits the drawings.
More on how routes are specified: security and PAS 24 routes and energy efficiency and U-values.

Common questions
What's the difference between lift-and-slide and inline sliding doors?
Inline doors run on rollers and move with a straight push. Lift-and-slide doors lift the sash off its seals on the handle turn, glide, then drop to compress the seals shut. Lift-and-slide suits heavier sashes, up to 2.2 m by 2.87 m and 420 kg where specified, and seals firmer. We confirm the action at quote.
What track layouts can you supply for sliding doors?
Two-track and three-track configurations in 2, 3, 4 and 6-sash layouts, sliding to one side or splitting from a central meeting point. A 35 mm slim interlock keeps central sightlines narrow, and pocket runs slide sashes into a wall cavity. Track count drives stacking and clear opening width. See our sliding door range, then confirm the layout and clear opening for your structural opening at quote.
What is the maximum sash size and weight for an aluminium sliding door?
Sashes run up to 2.2 m by 2.87 m at up to 420 kg where specified, with the achievable figure set by glass make-up and roller rating. Glazing spans 24 to 48 mm, including double, triple, laminated and integral-blind units. We confirm sash dimensions, weight and the rollers required when we prepare your quote.
How energy-efficient and weathertight are your sliding doors?
Whole-unit U-values run from 1.0 W/m²K where specified on lift-and-slide routes, with triple glazing up to 48 mm. Weather ratings reach air permeability Class 4, watertightness to Class 8A and wind resistance to Class C5. Acoustic reduction runs up to 45 dB. Confirm the whole-unit Uw at quote. See energy efficiency.
What thresholds, security and corner options are available for sliding doors?
Standard upstand thresholds for weather performance, or low thresholds and floor-recessed tracks for level, step-free access. Tested-security routes are available where required. Corner posts let two runs meet at an open corner, and a moving corner post slides clear so both runs open fully. See security or ask a vetted installer.
